AL Foundation App
by AppLibra
The free base of the AppLibra apps: sales and purchase entries, item types, hierarchies.
Live on AppSource Free
AL Foundation App is the base the AppLibra apps for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central are built on. It is free, and it is normally installed as a component of the AppLibra app you chose: it holds what those apps have in common, so every app does the same thing in the same way. What it holds is useful on its own too: the posted sales and purchase lines in one flat register, a classification of the items, the company unit of measure by type, and hierarchies of customers, items and salespeople.
Key capabilities
- Sales and purchase entries - when a document is posted, one entry is written for each line, with the fields of the header next to it: customer or vendor, salesperson, dates, payment terms, amounts. Four registers: sales, purchases, sales shipments, purchase receipts. Undoing a shipment or a return receipt writes the reversing entry.
- Ready for reporting - the four registers are published as API queries, so Power BI or any other tool reads one flat source instead of joining headers and lines.
- Recalculate Entries - rebuilds the entries of a period from the posted documents, after a data migration or when a period has to be realigned.
- A stable identifier for documents and lines - the apps link their own data to a document through it, so the link holds whatever number the document takes at posting.
- Units of measure by type - on the standard Units of Measure page, Type says what a unit measures (weight, pieces, liters, area, cubage) and Priority says which unit wins.
- Item types - a classification of the items that follows the item onto document lines and into the entries, where the apps use it as a filter and as a condition.
- Item charge setup - one place to say which item charge each app adds to a document on its own, such as excise, free gifts or processing charges.
- Certifications - a code on sales and purchase documents, copied from the header to the new lines and from shipped or received lines to the invoice.
- Structures and hierarchies - customers, vendors, items, salespeople, price groups and free groups arranged in dated hierarchies, which the apps use to decide what applies to whom.
Why it matters
- One behaviour across the catalogue - every AppLibra app reads the same entries, the same item types, the same hierarchies.
- Reporting without joins - header and line fields of posted documents in one row.
- Nothing to run - the entries are written while documents are posted: no batch to schedule, no daily work.
- No cost - the app is free, with or without other AppLibra apps.
Built for
Every Business Central customer who uses AppLibra apps, and whoever wants the posted sales and purchase lines in one flat register. The administrator sets it up once; everyone else does not meet it.
How it works
AL Foundation App is installed together with the AppLibra apps. The administrator opens Setup (FND) once, from Tell Me, from Manual Setup or from the AppLibra role center, and classifies the units of measure and the item types that the apps ask for. From then on the entries are written while documents are posted. All its pages carry the tag (FND), so searching for FND lists them.
Pricing
AL Foundation App is completely free to use. The trial option on this page is only there to help us stay in touch for support and future updates.

Italian localization
AL Foundation App IT brings the fiscal receipt into the e-invoice produced by AL Fatturazione Elettronica, and copies the Italian fields of posted shipments (project and tender codes, customer order number, operation type and date, bank account) into the sales shipment entries. It is free like this app, and installing it also installs this app. See it on AppSource.
