AL License and Trial Management

AL License and Trial Management is the licensing engine of the AppLibra apps for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It starts the trial period when an app is set up, activates the licenses you purchase without manual steps, reminds users before a license expires and, when an app cannot be used yet, tells the user what is missing and opens the page to fix it.

Key capabilities

• Trial from setup - the trial of an AppLibra app starts on the day its setup is saved and lasts one month. Saving the setup again does not restart it.
• License check per app and per module - apps made of modules license each module separately. A license is bound to its Business Central environment.
• Automatic activation - a daily update brings in the licenses purchased for the environment, adds the new ones, updates the renewed ones and removes the ended ones. The same update can be run on demand.
• Clear guidance when something is missing - if an app has not been set up yet, the message says so and offers Open setup, which opens the setup page of that app. If a purchased license cannot be verified because AL License is not set up, the message opens License Setup (LIC).
• Expiry reminders - a daily reminder from seven days before the ending date, with a configurable start.
• One place to look - license list and card, subscription history and a role center cue with active, expiring and expired licenses.

Built for

Every Business Central customer who uses AppLibra apps. The administrator configures it once; everyone else meets it only through reminders and clear messages. Nothing is blocked at sign-in or in background tasks: notices arrive as notifications.

How it works

AL License and Trial Management is installed together with the AppLibra apps. When you save the setup of an app, its trial starts. The administrator opens License Setup (LIC) once, from Tell Me, Manual Setup or the Business Manager, Administrator and AppLibra role centers; from then on the licenses you purchase are activated automatically. When an app is used before its setup is complete, the message points to the page to complete.

Requirements

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central online (SaaS), version 28.0 or higher.
• Languages - English (en-US) and Italian (it-IT).
• Dependencies (installed automatically) - AL Role Center, from AppLibra.
• Permissions - AL License - User (ALPLIC-USER) for every user of the AppLibra apps, AL License - Administrator (ALPLIC-ADMIN) for whoever manages the licenses.
• Role - the licensing dependency of the AppLibra apps.

Licensing

AL License and Trial Management is included at no extra charge when it is installed as a dependency of an AppLibra app. It is sold on its own only on request.
