AL Hierarchical Price List

by AppLibra

Sales price lists in hierarchies: one general list, only the differences below it.

Hierarchical Price List introduces a structured, flexible pricing model for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central based on hierarchies of price sources, letting you manage complex pricing policies while fully leveraging the standard price calculation engine.

Key capabilities

  • Free, multi-level hierarchies - unlimited levels where each node references a parent node and is linked to a price source (customer, price group, campaign, etc.), so you can model any pricing structure.
  • Incremental pricing and exceptions - set a general price and refine only where needed (by area, channel, retail chain, or individual customer/promotion), with the hierarchy enforcing priority and reducing duplication.
  • Customer assignment - assign hierarchies to customers via a setup table, with optional start and end dates for temporary policies, promotions or agreements.
  • Certification and governance - only certified hierarchies can be used in price calculation; a customer linked to a non-certified hierarchy blocks the sales document with an error.
  • Predictable determination - hierarchies are evaluated from the most specific to the most general level, stopping at the first valid price.

Why it matters

  • Scalable pricing policies - manage complex, multi-level pricing without redundancy.
  • Clear priorities - controlled, predictable price determination.
  • Governance - certification prevents inconsistent or erroneous pricing.
  • Standard-aligned - final calculation always relies on the standard engine.

Built for

B2B, retail and wholesale organizations with multi-level pricing, frequent promotions and campaigns, and environments that require strict pricing governance.

What makes Hierarchical Price List different

  • Unlimited price-source hierarchies - parent/child nodes each linked to a price source.
  • Certification-based governance - only certified hierarchies are used, with document blocking otherwise.
  • Non-invasive extension - integrates via a standard pricing event without modifying the engine, compatible with both the legacy and the V16 pricing engines.

How it works

Build a hierarchy of nodes, each referencing a parent and a price source, and certify it. Assign the hierarchy to customers (optionally with start/end dates). During pricing, the app evaluates the hierarchy from the most specific to the most general level and stops at the first valid price, then lets the standard Business Central engine compute the final price - so behavior stays predictable and upgrade-safe.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, version 28.0 or higher, online (SaaS) and on-premises. AppSource covers online environments; on-premises is distributed and installed directly by AppLibra, through the AppLibra License Manager.
  • Languages - English (en-US) and Italian (it-IT).
  • Compatibility - works with both the legacy pricing engine and the V16 pricing engine.
