AL Commissions calculates, accrues and settles sales commissions inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It is built for small and midsize businesses and proven on large transaction volumes, on a rules based engine that keeps the calculation accurate, flexible and fully traceable.

Why AL Commissions

Paying sales agents is rarely simple: several agents, different rules per agent and per commission type, discount scales, and settlement policies that change with the business. Done by hand or outside the system, it is slow, opaque and impossible to audit. AL Commissions brings the whole process inside Business Central, defining the rules with the standard lookups and filters your people already know, and automating accrual and settlement with a complete audit trail.

What it does

  • Rules engine: commission setups per agent, type and validity period, with conditions built from standard Business Central lookups, items, categories, dimensions, customers, price groups and more.
  • Multi level agent hierarchies: commission trees of any depth, with start and end dates. Each document applies the hierarchy that was active at its document date.
  • Flexible calculation basis: commissions on invoiced or on collected amounts, according to the setup active for each agent and commission type.
  • Discount scales: the commission percentage follows the discount actually granted to the customer, so pricing and commissions stay aligned.
  • Document integration: the agent list is inherited from the hierarchy when the document is created, and can be overridden on the header or on a single line.
  • Automated batches: accruals and settlements run as scheduled background jobs, so the figures stay current without anyone remembering to refresh them.
  • Two stage ledger: commissions are recorded first as accrued entries and then as settled entries, keeping what is potential clearly apart from what is paid.
  • Traceability: every entry links down to shipments and returns and up to the agent settlement invoice.

What you get

  • No manual errors: the rules replace spreadsheets and inconsistent local practice.
  • Correct at line level: rules and discount scales apply where the money is actually made.
  • Adaptable: extensible calculation and target types cover unusual commission models.
  • Scalable: proven on companies with high transaction volumes.
  • Auditable: the two stage ledger and the locking of settled batches protect the figures.
  • Historically accurate: hierarchies and setups are time based, so a document always uses the rules and the agents that were valid at its document date.

Typical scenarios

  • Sales organizations with multi level agent structures that need a different commission type at each level.
  • Companies that pay on invoiced or on collected amounts, depending on policy.
  • Businesses whose discount policy is complex, where the commission has to follow the discount actually granted.
  • Any company that wants recurring commission work to run on its own.

Compatibility

Integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and with the standard sales, pricing, discount and dimension features. Designed for extension through enums and events, so a partner can adapt it to the needs of a specific industry.

From setup to settlement, every step is driven by rules, runs on its own and can be audited, which frees the finance team from manual work and lets agents be paid accurately and transparently.
